About Me
Birth is a profound, transformative experience, and I am honored to support birthing people and their families through pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum journey. As a doula, prenatal massage therapist, and placenta encapsulator, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and traditional birthing support tailored to each family’s unique needs. Whether you are planning a home birth, birth center experience, or hospital delivery, I am here to hold space for you, ensuring you feel informed, empowered, and deeply supported.
My Path to Birth Work
My passion for birth began in childhood when I witnessed my baby brother’s home birth and assisted the midwife in cutting the cord. From that moment, I knew I was called to support families during this sacred time. In my teenage years, I immersed myself in birth literature, reading Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin and Artemis Speaks by Nan Koehler, which reinforced my belief that birth is a safe, natural process when supported with knowledge and trust.
I went to school in England for Holistic therapies in 2008, where I was exposed to many different modalities including aromatherapy, massage, herbology and reflexology. It cemented my belief in alternative care outside the mainstream as a means to optimal health. In 2011, I had my first home birth, bringing my child into the world surrounded by love and care. That experience ignited my desire to pursue birth work professionally. I began my formal studies in 2012 at Artemis College, where I trained in Holistic Midwifery – Higher Education in Womancraft. In 2013, I expanded my skills by completing the Heart and Hands intensive and advanced series, deepening my understanding of traditional midwifery techniques, doula care, and holistic support.
I later pursued additional training at the Midwives College of Utah (MCU) to further my knowledge of evidence-based birth practices, informed consent, and the physiological birth process. In my practice, I blend modern research with time-honored birth traditions, ensuring that the birthing person and their family feel supported in a way that aligns with their values and needs.
My Approach to Birth Support
I believe that birth is not a medical emergency—it is a normal, powerful life event. As a doula, I provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout labor and delivery, helping families navigate their birth journey with confidence. My care includes hands-on comfort measures such as breathwork, massage, and positioning techniques to encourage a smoother, more comfortable labor.
One of the unique tools I incorporate is the rebozo, a traditional Mexican birthing technique I studied with Gina Kirby. The rebozo can assist in relaxation, pain management, and optimal fetal positioning during labor. If desired, I use this tool to enhance comfort and provide additional support during birth.
I also integrate prenatal massage therapy into my practice, offering specialized bodywork that helps relieve tension, reduce discomfort, and prepare the body for labor. Massage can be a powerful tool in improving circulation, reducing stress hormones, and promoting overall well-being during pregnancy.
In the postpartum period, I continue supporting families through placenta encapsulation services, including tinctures, prints, and burial wraps. Placenta remedies have been traditionally used to support postpartum recovery, balance hormones, and increase energy during the early weeks of parenthood.
